As I sit to write my 15th report on the DFHS show I will start with a heartfelt thank you to Blandford Horticulture Society for their support with the setting up and wonderful supply of tea, coffee, bacon butties and cakes during the show day. Iwerne Minster produced a lot of entries this year but we missed the entries from Sturminster Newton.
The 15th show was marked with several firsts:
- The first wet show day, but the exhibitors still managed to stage good quality exhibits using their car boots and the entrance hall as cover from the rain.
- Redlynch’s exhibit in class 1 had vegetables from six different members of the society.
- Our home produce and wine judge and steward went home very merry after sampling an excellent exhibit of Fennel Vodka!
- The best exhibit of cookery was a lovely Victoria sandwich made by man from Iwerne Minster club
The hall was full of good quality exhibits so thank you to all exhibitors, stewards and judges who helped the day run smoothly from the setting up to the dismantling.
