Talk organised by Plant Heritage Dorset
On September 12, 2019 7:30pm - 8:30pm at The Dorford Centre, Bridport Road, Dorchester DT1 1RR. Doors open at 7.00pm
Dear Members and Friends,
As summer sadly drifts behind us, we can look forward enthusiastically to our monthly talks, starting this Thursday, 12th September at our usual venue, the Dorford Centre, Bridport Road, Dorchester DT1 1RR. Doors open at 7.00pm. Free car parking (after 6.00pm) is across the road at the Top o’Town Car Park, with a zebra crossing to bring you back to the Hall. Disability access is good.
The important information for this Thursday’s talk is that the speaker will start at 7.30pm as usual but there will not be a refreshment break. So if you would like refreshments, you will need to arrive in time to get your drink before the talk begins.
Our speaker is Chris Chadwell, Himalayan explorer and plant hunter. He will talk about “Growing Himalayan Plants in the UK”, which will combine the excitement and romantic appeal of plant hunting with the practicalities of nurturing the plants that have been brought back in our own gardens. Chris is also a conservation campaigner which will add another dimension close to our hearts. It will undoubtedly be a fascinating talk. Chris needs to catch a train home after his talk, hence the need for him to finish promptly.
As usual there will be plants and garden sundries to buy but do arrive early to browse and buy as there will not be our usual interval.
Very unfortunately I am unable to be with you but I know you will all give a very warm welcome to our new members and friends. I look forward to seeing you at our October meeting on Thursday 10th October when our speaker will be Lady Christine Skelmersdale, proprietor of Broadleigh bulbs.
